Since this is the first big Rapture prediction in the social media era, this has gained tremendous attention. And led to tremendous misunderstanding by people who don't comprehend the magnitude of the real Rapture.
As my 83-year-old grandmother noted last night at dinner, she has heard the same predictions of Jesus's second coming since she was 19-years-old. This is the latest example of false prophecy spreading false predictions.
Paul writes in I Thessalonians Ch. 5 that Jesus's second coming will come like a thief in the night - the hour and time is unknown. As Christians, we are instructed to live each second of each day as if Jesus could come at any moment so that, as Paul writes, "(you) are not in the darkness for the day to overtake you like a thief would." Our lives are to be lived as if Jesus will come to "bring us into life" together with him at any point, at any time.
People with a lack of respect or reverence for God have turned this into a time for mockery and sarcasm. It's unfortunate, but understandable because God is not real in their lives, nor have they had a true experience where God has seriously moved in their lives. For Christians, May 21 is just another day where we are already supposed to be living with both eyes fixed on Jesus for his eventual return to redeem the earth and its people.
Our mission remains clear to live according to God's principles written in the Scriptures and pray for the imperative salvation of unbelievers so that they, too, may join Jesus when he indeed comes to redeem the world. That is the Truth of May 21.
